Show Description
Shep opens show talking about the previous portion of the show on which he played a recording of a Dayak curse. For the rest of the show he goes about telling the story of being a kid and their involvement in kid mythology. There were the believers and non-believers. He talks about myths such as the poisonous inside of a golf ball, the indelible pencil, bats flying into your hair, swallowing gum will make your stomach stick together, and the tongue myth. The tongue myth stated that if, on a very cold day, you placed your tongue on a metal object, it would stick forever. So one day on the way to school Shep, Flick, Schwartz, and Bruner start talking about this and as they pass an iron telephone pole, start to dare one another to try it. Dares led to double dares and then to the double dog dare! Flick walks up and places his tongue right on the pole and it's stuck!! The rest of the kid's run to class leaving Flick behind. Miss Shield's, their teacher finds out, and the fire department is called to solve the problem.

The January 28, 1968 show was recorded by me. It came off a reel of 1968 shows so I'm sure of the year. Some show I had dated, others were marked 1/68 one of which was the Flick's Tongue show. On the 1-29-68 show (People in the news, Drunk Test...) he refers to having done the Rariton Valley Hospital Show the previous Friday (1/26) and that he has a show at Seton Hall on "this Thursday February 1st" He also talks to a caller regarding the Friday Rariton Valley Show, and about the show featuring the Dayak Curse. No mention of the date of the Dayak Curse show. It's possible he re-ran the Dayak show of April 4, 1966 on Friday night since he could not do a live studio show and be at the Rariton show at the same time. HOWEVER, how would the caller have seen the Rariton show and heard the Dayak show if both were Friday? Since January 1968 was the first month of post Limelight shows, he may have been still on for the 10:30 to midnight slot and re-ran a trimmed down version of the Dayak Curse show for the first half hour and then did the last 55 minutes live. My conclusion - Curses was run on 4-6-66 and then re-run either Friday 1/26/68 while he was doing the Raritan Show or on Saturday in a trimmed down version. The Flick's Tongue show was done on 1/27/68 and rerun on 4-6-72 in a trimmed down version.
