Author, magazine writer and public television personality Jean Shepherd will speak at an Urban Folklore conference on the Indiana University Bloomington campus Sept 2 and 3.
Shepherd's topic the first conference date, which begins at·8:15p.m. in IU's Fine Arts Auditorium will be "Growine Up in the Dear Old Region."
Results of field work done by Richard M. Dorson in tbe Calumet region of northwest Indiana also will be presented. Dorson is professor of folklore and director of IU's Folklore Institute, and a team of graduate students.
Discussion will be aimed at materials and ideas for use in urban and general folklore studies.
