Jim: I transferred the "Larry King" and "Steve Martorano" Jean Shepherd radio interviews onto my computer. I made you a CD-R disc featuring the files as both .wav and MP3. There are some dating clues on them - hope you can pin them down. One talks about the Villanova basketball victory which was in 1985. The Larry King tape is 39:48 long (sans commercials) and the radio station WIP interview is (20:53). You will be getting *everything* that I recorded on the original cassette tape - some parts get rough and the speed is a bit off. But at least it is quite listenable. And Shep talks about some great stuff, including his theme song. I just checked my computer and for some reason I never saved your mailing address! I'll send the disc as soon as I hear from you. Please do not copy these recordings for others. Thanks! --- Bruce -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks, I may be able to correct the speed problems. I did a couple of shows a few years ago that had some weird speed variations throughout. Took some time, but came out pretty good. The Villa Nova vs Georgetown win was on April 1st - 66-64 in Lexington Kentucky. How did they refer to the win - "today" or just in general conversation of a recent event? Jim -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe that the reference to the game was specific enough (the day after maybe?) so it will help pin down the date of one of the interviews - but I was listening to two programs today for clues so I might get them mixed up as to which one had that reference. I'll let you listen! The Larry King one may not be the one you have listed! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the shows had a reference to Studs Terkel just winning a Pulitzer Prize. That was in 1985. Think it was the Larry King interview. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I received the CD and began to listen to the Larry King interview. This is definately 1985 since Larry keeps mentioning the 2nd season of Jean Shepherd's America starting April 16th. I had a note on the website of him appearing on Larry King on April 1st. I never did confirm it, but it sounds like this may be it. He was probably appearing to promote the show. I have to check my notes. Jim
